Now that I'm moving to LA...I've been thinking of things that I can do with my time out there. I've been working since I was 16. Currently, I'm the controller of a community bank. Is it the most exciting job? Nope...but its interesting.
1) I could get a job? Are there any jobs out there that start off with a month of vacation? Yeah...didn't think so.
2) I could volunteer. I love working with animals but I'm not sure if I have the toughness to see animals who have been abused or mistreated.
3) I could celebrity stalk. It's sad how much I know about celebrities. It's actually really sad!
4) Going back to school would be fun. I've always wanted to get into HR. I think it mixes business with a little bit of psychology which I find interesting.
I've been working since I was 16 and I've always had something to do. This is the 1st time that I have nothing lined up. It's scary for me! Is it weird to somehow parallel your self-worth to your job?

When I first told my parents that I was dating my now husband who was originally from CA, my Dad's first question was..."Is he a fruit or a nut?" I'm from a small rural community in VA. Although it may be wrong, most of the people in my neck of the woods believe that Californians are a little umm...weird. I think Hollywood and the Hippy movement has given CA a bad rep. Needless to say, I didn't answer my Dad's question and I briefly recall rolling my eyes.
Fast forward 5 years and my now husband and I are moving to LA. I have to admit that I'm a little apprehensive. I think its because of the reality TV movement. I don't want to be famous, an actress, or rub elbows with the rich and famous. I just want to live a simple life and soak up the reality that I won't have to shovel snow! OK...earthquakes may be a little scary. I guess I should school myself on what to do during an earthquake. My thoughts right now is to buy a one way ticket back to VA!! Bring on the hurricanes, snowstorms, and tornadoes...I can handle it. Those are predictable!
But apprehension aside, I'm really excited about CA! Maybe deep down...I can relate to the fruits and nuts.
